Page has been a profession bench goldsmith since working up from polishing to the bench in a wholesale trade shop in 1987, but is probably best known for his artistry with high carbon steel, from winning the History Channel show Forged in Fire, to reproducing a historically important halberd for the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth Massachusetts.
In the Society for Creative Anachronism he is known as John Michael Thorpe, and is a member of the Order of the Laurel for his work researching and teaching historical metalworking techniques.
